HR Generalist

Milwaukee non-profit seeks an innovative and grassroots-oriented HR Generalist to join their team! This exciting and new role will help develop and implement HR policies and procedures for all Benedict Center locations. As a smaller, but growing non-profit, this role will have a key role on the leadership team as the organization formalizes the HR processes to support a growing organization.

Position: Human Resources Generalist

Reports to: Executive Director

Status: Part-time (20 hours)

Pay Range: $24-26 per hour

The Benedict Center provides services and advocacy for women in the criminal justice system so they can live safer, healthier lives for themselves, their children, and the community we all share.  Our services include community-based counseling for substance use disorders and mental health treatment, reentry support, neighborhood drop-in centers and street outreach. We advocate for a more equitable justice system including public health approaches to substance use, mental illness, and trauma instead of criminalization.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and improve processes for consistent execution of operational policies, procedures, performance improvement and management to ensure organizational effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the organization.
  • Keep all records of employees including hires, promotions transfers, performance reviews, terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting
  • Oversee and execute recruiting, interviewing and on-boarding strategies and practices.
  • Administer Benefits programs for employees
  • Advise in Employee Relations matters as needed
  • Maintain awareness of market pay for organizational competitiveness

What you offer:

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field
  • 2 Years of experience working in HR, preferably in non-profit sector
  • Problem-solving mind-set with a thorough knowledge of the HR field.
